Please read carefully before filling out birth
announcement form
The Portland Press Herald will publish birth announcements submitted by parents only when accompanied by a copy of the baby's birth certificate.
We will publish complete names of parents and LIVING grandparents, great-grandparents and great-great-grandparents. Example: Mr. and Mrs. John Smith rather than Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
We will not publish the announcement if towns are not listed for parents. The newspaper will not publish the names of deceased grandparents, great-grandparents and great-great-grandparents.
If the mother is a single parent, the newspaper will print the name of the baby (even if the last name is different from the mother's), the mother's name and the town of residence and maternal grandparents, unless the father is named on the birth certificate, in which case it will be published as above.
We will not publish the name of the father or paternal grandparents in cases where the mother and father/domestic partner are not married and/or have different last names unless both mother and father/domestic partner have signed our birth announcement form.

Completed forms with a copy of the birth certificate can be mailed to Community News/Birth announcements, c/o Portland Press Herald, P.O. Box 1460, Portland, ME. 04104
